We Can't Honey Coat This, 2018

With this piece I was exploring CCD (Colony Collapse Disorder) and specifically looking at the plants and flowers that were most effected.  On the back of the jacket, there are embroidered plants deteriorating and dead bees, showing that if we continue down the path we are, this could be a realistic outcome. The front of the jacket displayed a more positive outlook on the situation. Showcasing that there is hope for change. Specifically, for this textile piece, I considered the impact CCD has on the denim/cotton industry. To not add to the problem- I purchased a jacket from a local second hand store. We Can’t Honey Coat This, has shown in a couple of my exhibitions and is a piece I always come back to and continue to wear today.
