Tornado Pants, is inspired by another project I did that related to tornados, The Damage Remains. I was continuing to look at the shallow and cliché responses we hear on social media and in the news after a tornado hits. I used the same quotes as the 100 prints in The Damage Remains, and made them into embroidered patches. I sold many of these patches to go towards helping a tornado relief charity. I was left with some extra patches and decided to turn them into a textile piece by applying them to a pair of jeans. The final piece became wearable art. Wearing the piece then became another way to continue to spread the message.
