Send Nudes, is a series that includes seven abstract oil paintings. Each painting was inspired by a “nude” that a woman had sent to a partner. I wanted to recognize the beauty in these photos but also the playful and strange aspect that is entrenched in the culture of sending nudes. To portray this, I chose bright colours or colourful pastels. Through the abstraction, I painted the figure/figures in a way that doesn’t sexualize them. Instead all we are left to consider is the compelling and fascinating culture of sending nudes.
