Rap Sheet, was inspired by over a decade worth of rap music. I began the project by compiling over 10,000 words from lyrics of rap music. With these lyrics I began to create my own piece of writing. I wanted to show with the red words that the rap music doesn’t always have to be vulgar or inappropriate but actually very well written and beautiful. If you were to read just the red text it would read as a whole different piece of work. Experimenting with text, I hand stamped each word. The print is 16 feet in length and when displayed falls down the wall and onto the floor. I wanted this work to feel grandiose.
